No Bananas D.A.T. (Anti-Slice) Driver -
The D.A.T. 460cc—Of this fifth-generation No Bananas Driver, the people at Bob Burns Golf have begun saying to certain radical slicers, no more than half-jokingly, “You got to have DAT,” where “DAT” means literally the most recent in “Draw Alignment Technology,” but where it might just as well mean “distinctively aerodynamic [and acoustical] trademarks.” Viewed from the side, the DAT’s profile bears a notable resemblance to an airplane’s wing.
Though the DAT, with its shallower face (about 1/3rd” shallower than the face of the Classic 460cc) is otherwise forged of Beta Titanium, its elongated convex crown is made of an ultra-light titanium alloy that has allowed us to redistribute weight toward both toe and heel, and to produce a lighter-than-average clubhead (196 grams), all in the interest of optimizing stability at impact and clubhead-speed.
At setup, The DAT broadcasts confidence with it swing enhancing visuals. The DAT’s unusual inside-out sightline, created by three very slightly raised ridges on the crown, each lightly marked in gray, that in turn create two slightly recessed aerodynamic channels curving gradually from front-center of the crown toward the rear of the heel, the effort being to provide the weekend, slicing warrior with both visual and physical aids to an inside-out swing. As if these elements of the DAT’s design aren’t enough, the grounding surface of the sole reinforces the sightline on the crown, as the central surface of the sole likewise curves from front-center toward the rear of the heel—so that when you place the sole of the DAT lightly on a flat surface, the clubface closes naturally, and strikingly, toward a substantial 7°, as if the sole were acting like a broad keel to lead your backswing from inside to out.
